Yes. A 360 photo booth works through Freetown's rainy season, from May to November, as long as it is under cover: a hall, a marquee, a covered terrace or a veranda. Outdoor setups without cover are a risk in those months because storms arrive quickly. Agree a covered spot with your venue when you book, not on the day.

How wet is the rainy season?

Freetown is one of the wettest capitals in West Africa. It averages about 4,433 mm of rain a year, according to Wikipedia’s Freetown climate data, with the rainy season running from May to November. The heaviest months fall in the middle of that season. The dry season, from December to April, includes the Harmattan from December to February, when dry, dusty air blows from the Sahara.

Rain in Freetown can arrive fast and heavily, so an outdoor event that looks clear at 5pm can be soaked by 7pm.

What the booth needs

A 360 booth is electrical: a motor, a ring light, a camera and a screen. It must stay dry. It also needs a level, firm floor about 3 m by 3 m. Wet grass and sand get soft, which makes the platform unstable.

Good rainy-season spots

VenueRainy-season plan
Hall or ballroomNo change needed. Indoor setups are the safest.
MarqueePlace the booth inside, away from the edges where rain blows in.
Covered terrace or verandaGood, if it is deep enough that rain does not reach the platform.
Garden or compoundAgree a covered fallback, such as a veranda or a room, before the day.
BeachBest avoided from May to November unless there is solid cover.

What to agree with the venue

  1. Where the booth goes if it rains, written into your plan.
  2. Who moves it. The attendant handles the booth, but the fallback space needs to be clear.
  3. Power. Our booth runs on its own backup power, so the fallback spot does not need a socket.

Dust in the Harmattan

From December to February, fine dust settles on everything. It does not stop the booth, but it softens the video if the lens and ring light are not kept clean. The attendant wipes both between sessions.

Bottom line

The rainy season does not rule out a 360 booth; it just means planning a covered spot. Indoors is safest; outdoors needs a fallback agreed in advance. To check your rainy-season date, call or WhatsApp +232 75 009582.

Frequently asked questions

What if the booth is outside and it starts to rain?

The attendant stops the booth and moves the kit to cover. That is why a covered fallback spot should be agreed in advance.

Which months are safest for an outdoor booth?

The dry season, from December to April. Even then, keep a covered spot in mind.

Does humidity affect the videos?

Lenses can mist when kit moves from air conditioning into humid air. The attendant wipes the lens and lets it settle before recording.
