How Much Space Does a 360 Photo Booth Need?

Floor area, surface, ceiling and access, with a checklist for your venue.

By 360 Photobooth Freetown, the 360 photo booth hire service for Freetown · Updated 7 October 2026

A 360 photo booth needs a clear, level, firm area of about 3 m by 3 m so the camera arm can turn safely around the platform, plus space for a short queue. Add more if you want a backdrop behind it or a red carpet leading to it. Indoors, most halls and living rooms can make room; outdoors, the ground must be firm and covered.

The footprint

The booth is a round platform with a motorised arm that sweeps around it. The arm needs a clear circle so it never touches a wall, a table or a guest. Plan for:

SetupSpace
Booth onlyAbout 3 m by 3 m
Booth + queueAbout 3 m by 4 m
Booth + backdropAbout 3.5 m by 3.5 m
Booth + red carpet3 m by 3 m plus the carpet length

Ceiling height is rarely a problem; the arm turns horizontally, and a standard room height is enough.

The surface

The platform must sit level and steady. Good surfaces:

  • tiled or concrete floors in halls and hotels;
  • wooden floors and decks;
  • firm, flat paving in compounds and on terraces.

Surfaces that need care:

  • Grass, which can be uneven and gets soft after rain;
  • Sand, which needs a firm base laid over it;
  • Slopes, common in Hill Station gardens, which need a level patch found in advance.

Access

The kit has to get in. Mention any of these when you ask for a quote:

  • stairs, especially to rooftops and upper floors;
  • narrow gates and doorways at family compounds;
  • long walks from the car park;
  • hotel loading times set by the events team.

Where to put it in the room

The best spot is near the dance floor but out of the main walkway, so the queue does not block service or the exit. Avoid placing it directly behind the high table, where clips will include people eating. In long, narrow church halls, the far end from the stage usually works best.

Checklist for your venue photo

When you ask for a quote, send a photo of the space showing:

  1. the floor surface;
  2. where you would like the booth;
  3. whether it is covered;
  4. the route in from the road.

That is usually enough to confirm the booth fits before the day.

Bottom line

Plan for a clear, level, firm 3 m by 3 m area, a little more for a backdrop or red carpet, and cover if it is outside. Send a venue photo and we will confirm it fits. Call or WhatsApp +232 75 009582.

Frequently asked questions

Can the booth go in a corner?

Yes, as long as the full 3 m by 3 m circle around the platform is clear. Corners can work well with a backdrop.

Can it go upstairs or on a rooftop?

Usually, yes. Tell us about stairs, lifts and roof access when you ask for a quote.

Does it need a power socket nearby?

No. It runs on its own backup power.
